Lisa Snowdon has spoken publicly for the first time about her break-up with her fiancé, George Smart, which ended their 12-year relationship earlier this summer. The This Morning presenter discussed the split with Ateh Jewel on HELLO!’s Second Act podcast.
Snowdon, a former model, said the couple had grown apart over more than a decade together and that she refused to look back on the relationship as entirely negative, recalling many good times. People change, she said, and “you can’t stay in a relationship that isn’t right”.
Since the separation she has travelled alone to Bali, a trip she credits with helping her reset and focus on the future. She now plans to train as a yoga teacher. Describing a night in a four-poster bed with a mosquito net moving in the breeze of a fan, she said she realised she was having a romantic moment with herself, and that she had always been independent. For now she wants to spend time with family and travel rather than look for a partner.
She has not ruled out meeting someone. Snowdon said she has never been drawn to dating apps, although she used Raya some years ago, and prefers to meet people in real life. What she is looking for now, she said, is chemistry. She also spoke about having made peace, in her fifties, with not becoming a mother, saying she is content to be a hands-on aunt.
As she enters her 55th year, Snowdon said she feels strong, excited and like herself again, describing this stage of life as “my era”. She is working with Bloom & Wild on Unmarked Milestones, a gifting range designed to mark the significant moments in midlife that often go unrecognised for women.
