A year on, Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are still very much going strong. The couple were photographed on vacation with friends in the South of France on July 28 — exactly one year to the day after their first date in Montreal — taking selfies, lounging on a boat and shielding each other from the sun. Two days later, they were spotted cuddling on the beach at Saint-Tropez’s Le Club 55.
The getaway caps a summer the pair have spent largely together on the road. Perry has been playing European festivals, and Trudeau has kept turning up: she shared a photo of him kissing her in Stuttgart in early July, he was spotted in the crowd at the city’s Jazz Open, and he later joined her in Aix-les-Bains, even dancing in a video with her and her crew.
Perry has not been shy about how she feels. In June, at the Tribeca Festival premiere of her concert film Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour, she called Trudeau the love of her life. “I am very in love,” she said, describing herself as “a little bit like a rainbow kite” who flies high and sometimes needs an anchor. “To have that anchor finally makes me feel really whole now.”
Trudeau, for his part, was happy to play along. Attending the premiere with her, he told Entertainment Tonight that he had already seen the show three times — “but I wasn’t really paying attention to anything but Katy, so I’m looking forward to seeing the show now for the first time.” A year in, the pair seem entirely at ease being one of the more unexpected couples in the celebrity world.
